16 AI companies sign Frontier AI Safety Commitments at the AI Seoul Summit
See how this story connectsOn 21 May 2024, the opening day of the AI Seoul Summit hosted by the UK and South Korea, 16 companies including OpenAI, Anthropic, Google DeepMind, Meta, Microsoft, xAI, Mistral AI, Naver, Samsung Electronics and Zhipu AI agreed to publish safety frameworks for their frontier models. Each would set thresholds for severe risks it considers intolerable and would not develop or deploy a model at all if mitigations could not keep risks below them, with thresholds due before France’s AI Action Summit. The same day ten countries and the EU signed the Seoul Declaration and a statement of intent to build an international network of AI safety institutes.
