Study: Grok 4.7 picked Republicans in 92% of forced midterm answers, GPT-6.1 Sol picked Democrats in 97%
See how this story connectsConvovo, a conversational AI research and design studio led by Cornell University professor Tapan Parikh, asked SpaceXAI’s Grok 4.7 and OpenAI’s GPT-6.1 Sol through their APIs who to vote for in nearly 500 midterm races, with instructions not to hedge. Grok picked the Republican in 92% of answers and GPT-6.1 Sol picked the Democrat in 97%, and the two agreed less than 10% of the time. Grok’s sources included a Christian conservative voter guide in 39% of answers, Turning Point Action’s site in 23% and X in 41%, while GPT leaned on Wikipedia, the Associated Press, Axios and Reddit. The consumer apps refused to answer, and an OpenAI spokesperson said the API does not reflect what ChatGPT users experience.
