Vietnam passes Digital Technology Industry Law with AI risk tiers
See how this story connectsVietnam’s National Assembly passed the Law on Digital Technology Industry on 14 June 2025, with 441 of 445 delegates in favour, effective 1 January 2026. It requires human oversight of AI, sorts AI into high-risk, high-impact and other systems, and defines digital assets in law. It also offers tax breaks, five-year visas for foreign experts and a target of 150,000 digital technology businesses by 2035.
