LG AI Research published the EXAONE 3.0 technical report on 7 August 2024 and released the weights of its 7.8-billion-parameter instruction-tuned model on Hugging Face. The model was pre-trained on 8 trillion tokens in Korean and English and is licensed under the EXAONE AI Model License Agreement 1.1 - NC, which bars commercial use. Larger EXAONE 3.0 sizes stayed in-house.

Why it matters

Korean researchers and developers got downloadable weights for a Korean-English model from a domestic conglomerate’s lab, though the licence restricts them to non-commercial use.
