Google DeepMind and Isomorphic Labs release AlphaFold 3 for molecular interactions
See how this story connectsGoogle DeepMind and Isomorphic Labs described AlphaFold 3 in Nature on 8 May 2024, a model that predicts the structure and interactions of proteins, DNA, RNA, ligands and other molecules. They reported at least a 50% improvement over existing methods for protein interactions with other molecule types, and opened a free AlphaFold Server for most capabilities. Model code and weights followed for academic use on 11 November 2024.
Why it matters
Researchers gained free, non-commercial access through AlphaFold Server to predictions of how proteins bind DNA, RNA and drug-like ligands, while Isomorphic applied the model with pharmaceutical partners.
