EU AI Office publishes first draft of the General-Purpose AI Code of Practice
See how this story connectsThe European AI Office published the first draft of the General-Purpose AI Code of Practice on 14 November 2024, written by independent chairs and vice-chairs of four working groups with a plenary of around 1,000 stakeholders. It covers transparency and copyright rules for providers of general-purpose AI models, plus a taxonomy of systemic risks and risk assessment and mitigation measures for the few providers of the most advanced models. It was the first of four drafting rounds running to April 2025.
Why it matters
Providers of the largest models saw a written draft of how they would be expected to show compliance with the AI Act’s general-purpose model rules, and could comment before it was final.
