See how this story connects

The Senate Select Committee on Adopting Artificial Intelligence, chaired by Labor Senator Tony Sheldon, tabled its final report in November 2024 with 13 recommendations. It asks for whole-of-economy legislation on high-risk AI uses, with general-purpose models such as large language models on the high-risk list, and for AI that affects workers’ rights to count as high-risk. It also calls for transparency and licensing for copyrighted training data and fair payment to creators.
