Guidelines on Artificial Intelligence Risk Management for Financial Institutions

Enacted, not yet in forceGuidelineBinding

Supervisory guidelines for all financial institutions in Singapore, covering all forms of AI including generative AI and AI agents. Firms should set up board and senior-management oversight of AI risk, identify AI use cases, assess each one’s risk materiality and keep an AI inventory, then apply lifecycle controls proportionate to that risk. MAS consulted in November 2025 and issued the final guidelines on 7 Oct 2026.

Why it matters

Singapore banks, insurers, payment firms and capital-markets firms have until 7 Oct 2027 to put AI oversight, risk assessment and inventories in place, and until 7 Oct 2028 for lifecycle controls.
