See how this story connectsGovernor Greg Abbott signed HB 149, the Texas Responsible Artificial Intelligence Governance Act, on 22 June 2025, effective 1 January 2026. The Attorney General enforces it after a 60-day cure period, with penalties up to $200,000 per uncurable violation, and a 36-month sandbox run by the Department of Information Resources.
