Texas settles with Pieces Technologies over accuracy claims for hospital generative AI
See how this story connectsTexas Attorney General Ken Paxton announced a settlement on 18 September 2024 with Pieces Technologies, a Dallas company whose generative AI summarised patients’ conditions for staff at at least four major Texas hospitals. His office found that Pieces’ advertised ‘severe hallucination rate’ of under 1 per 100,000 was likely inaccurate. Pieces agreed to give accurate figures for its products’ accuracy and to make sure hospital staff understand how far to rely on them.
Why it matters
Vendors of clinical generative AI learned that a state attorney general would hold them to the accuracy and hallucination figures they publish to hospital buyers.
