The fourth ASEAN Digital Ministers’ Meeting, chaired by Singapore’s Josephine Teo, endorsed the ASEAN Guide on AI Governance and Ethics on 2 February 2024. The guide sets common principles for trustworthy AI, suggests implementation practices and includes use cases from ASEAN companies and public bodies. It is voluntary for companies.

Why it matters

Companies deploying AI across the ten ASEAN states got one shared reference for governance practice, and member governments got a baseline for their own national frameworks.
