Minister for Communications and Information Josephine Teo launched the AI Verify Foundation at the ATxAI conference in Singapore on 7 June 2023. IMDA made AI Verify, the AI governance testing framework and software toolkit it first built, available as open source, and the foundation is to build an open-source community around AI testing. It started with seven premier members (IMDA, Aicadium, IBM, Microsoft, Google, Red Hat and Salesforce) and more than 60 general members.

Why it matters

Companies selling AI in Singapore got a free, government-backed way to test their systems and produce reports for customers and regulators, with major US vendors helping write the tests.
