UNESCO launched an AI competency framework for students on 2 September 2024 and one for teachers on 3 September, at Digital Learning Week in Paris. The teacher framework sets 15 competencies across five dimensions, from a human-centred mindset and AI ethics to AI pedagogy, at three levels (acquire, deepen, create); the student framework has four dimensions.

Why it matters

Education ministries writing AI curricula and teacher training got a reference framework from the UN’s education agency, with set competencies and levels.
