The EuroHPC Joint Undertaking selected the first seven AI Factories on 10 December 2024, pooling EU and national money from 17 countries. They are LUMI AI Factory in Kajaani, Finland; HammerHAI in Stuttgart, Germany; Pharos in Athens, Greece; IT4LIA in Bologna, Italy; L-AI Factory in Bissen, Luxembourg; BSC AI Factory in Barcelona, Spain; and MIMER at Linköping University, Sweden.

Why it matters

European start-ups and researchers got access routes to public supercomputers set up for training and running AI models in seven EU countries.
