OpenAI and Poland’s NASK sign an AI safety and security research agreement
See how this story connectsNASK, Poland’s national research institute, signed an agreement with OpenAI under which its AI Safety Research Centre, Poland’s AI Safety Institute, will study the safety of advanced AI systems with OpenAI to assess them, find weak points and strengthen safeguards. Institute director Radosław Nielek said it is the only such agreement in the European Union. NASK says OpenAI already works this way with the US Center for Advancing Standards and Innovation for Super Intelligence (CAISSI) and the UK AI Security Institute, and that in July its CERT Polska team used OpenAI’s cybersecurity models in the Daybreak programme to find six flaws in MikroTik RouterOS, which the maker has patched.
Why it matters
Poland joins the US and UK as a country whose public AI safety institute tests OpenAI’s frontier models, the only such agreement in the EU according to NASK.
