Hong Kong opens an embodied-AI testing hub with seven robotics firms

See how this story connects

The Hong Kong Productivity Council opened the Embodied AI International Applications Hub at its Kowloon Tong building on 15 October 2026, with seven mainland and Hong Kong robotics companies including Unitree, Galbot, Robotera, AI Squared Robotics and Rice Robotics, and eight scenario partners including the Civil Engineering and Development Department and TCL that will deploy robots in real settings. The hub offers simulated real-world environments for testing designs before international rollouts. Innovation secretary Sun Dong called it a milestone in aligning with national embodied-AI plans and promised further support; HKPC’s chief digital officer said the practices developed could be pushed as industry standards while regions are still writing them.

Why it matters

Mainland robot makers get a Hong Kong site to train for international deployments, and Hong Kong positions the hub’s practices as candidate standards for embodied AI.
