OpenAI began a limited preview of the GPT-5.6 series: Sol, its flagship; Terra, a balanced model it said matches GPT-5.5 at half the cost; and Luna, a fast low-cost model. It said it previewed the models’ capabilities to the US government and, at the government’s request, started with a small group of trusted partners whose participation was shared with the government.
