Google released Gemma 4, its most capable open models, built from Gemini 3 research and licensed under Apache 2.0, in four sizes: Effective 2B, Effective 4B, a 26B mixture-of-experts model and a 31B dense model. Google said Gemma had been downloaded more than 400 million times.
