Anthropic’s new usage policy covers deceptive campaigns, weapons software and model abuse
See how this story connectsAnthropic published its 2026 Usage Policy, effective 12 November. It consolidates influence-operation rules into a new section on deceptive campaigns, narrows the elections section to deceiving voters and disrupting elections, states that weapons rules cover guidance and control software and arming drones, adds requirements when Claude controls hardware that acts physically, and prohibits sustained abuse of Claude models. Anthropic said most changes clarify rules it already enforced.
