Israel publishes its AI policy: sector regulators, risk-based rules, no horizontal AI law

See how this story connects

Israel’s Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology published “Israel’s Policy on Artificial Intelligence Regulation and Ethics”, written with the Ministry of Justice’s Office of Legal Counsel and Legislative Affairs. It tells sector regulators to decide whether AI rules are needed in their own fields, to scale rules to risk and to prefer soft tools such as ethical principles, standards and self-regulation. It adopts OECD-aligned principles and proposes a government-coordinated AI knowledge centre.

Why it matters

Companies building or selling AI in Israel answer to existing sector regulators and voluntary principles, with no single AI statute of the kind the EU was then finalising.
