28 US health providers and payers sign White House voluntary AI commitments

See how this story connects

The White House said on 14 December 2023 that 28 health care providers and payers, including CVS Health, Geisinger, Mass General Brigham and UC San Diego Health, had signed voluntary commitments on AI. They agreed to tell users when content is largely AI-generated and not reviewed by people, to follow a risk management framework for foundation-model applications, and to align AI work with the FAVES principles (fair, appropriate, valid, effective, safe). The commitments followed the October 2023 executive order on AI.

Why it matters

Large US hospital groups and insurers made public promises on disclosure and risk management for generative AI that patients and regulators could hold them to.
