Palantir unveils AIP, putting large language models into military planning software

See how this story connects

Palantir announced its Artificial Intelligence Platform (AIP) in late April 2023 for defence and commercial customers, with a demonstration video. In the demo an operator watching Eastern Europe asks a chat assistant to identify enemy units, task imagery, generate three courses of action to target an enemy tank and assign jammers. Palantir said answers draw on classified and public data under each user’s access rights and link back to source records.

Why it matters

Defence buyers saw a major contractor offer chat-based planning and targeting tools built on large language models for use on classified networks.
