UK AI Security Institute sets out the technical practices it wants frontier AI developers to adopt

See how this story connects

The UK AI Security Institute published its view of the technical practices frontier AI developers most urgently need, saying risks now arise during training, internal deployment and evaluation, before a model is released, and that evaluation methods are struggling to keep pace with capabilities. It says it will work with developers and others towards best practice that could later inform formal technical standards, as the Prime Minister committed on 22 September, and that it is not seeking to mandate requirements. AISI says it has evaluated more than 55 models before release and welcomes developers’ commitments under the White House Accord on Super Intelligence.

Why it matters

The UK’s state AI tester is moving from testing finished models to setting the controls labs should apply while they train and evaluate them.
