China’s Ministry of Education launched a campaign to use AI in education on 28 March 2024 with four actions. They add an AI learning column to the National Smart Education Public Service Platform, add AI features to the platform, run a pilot of large-model applications across the education system, and build AI into international digital education exchange.

Why it matters

Schools and universities in China gained a national AI teaching channel and model pilots, which the ministry expanded in 2026 into AI teaching at every level.
