Yale Budget Lab finds no significant AI effect on US jobs or wages through Q1 2026
Using synthetic difference-in-differences, Martha Gimbel, Joshua Kendall and Ryan Nunn compared the most and least AI-exposed thirds of occupations and found no statistically or economically significant effect on employment shares, real hourly wages or unemployment as of the first quarter of 2026. They caution that newer models may have larger effects than early ones.
