NVIDIA restarts H200 production after Chinese orders and first US licence

DealComputeCN USReported

At GTC, Jensen Huang said NVIDIA had purchase orders from many Chinese customers and was restarting H200 manufacturing. Beijing had reportedly allowed ByteDance, Alibaba and Tencent to buy more than 400,000 H200s in January after months of discouraging such purchases, and on 26 Feb NVIDIA reported a US licence for a small volume subject to US inspection and a 25% duty.

Why it matters

Both governments now gate the same chip sales, so China's AI compute supply depends on two sets of approvals that can be withdrawn at any time.
