Insilico doses first patients in Phase III trial of AI-discovered drug rentosertib
Insilico Medicine dosed the first patients in GENESIS-IPF-3, a 52-week placebo-controlled Phase III trial of rentosertib, a TNIK inhibitor for idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis whose target and molecule were found with generative AI. The trial plans to enrol 320 patients at 47 centres in China; the company calls it the first Phase III trial of a generative-AI-discovered drug.
Why it matters
It is the first hard test of whether AI-discovered drugs can show efficacy at the scale regulators require for approval.
