Wiz links a month of AI developer platform breaches to theft of AI keys
See how this story connectsWiz Research says at least nine AI developer platforms disclosed breaches in October, among them Fireworks, Zeabur, Lightning AI, Railway, Warp and OpenCode, with Brev (Nvidia), Trigger.dev and Chainstack added in updates on 2 and 3 November; every public report describes attackers hunting stored environment variables, above all those that grant AI access. In one case Wiz followed, a stolen enterprise key made about 800,000 Amazon Bedrock calls in 30 hours, in another about 1.7 million in 13 hours, mostly to Claude models, and the two together likely ran up more than $100,000 at list price. Wiz ties the keys to an actor running an AI-access resale site; Zeabur is shutting down after its breach.
Why it matters
AI keys kept on developer platforms are now a target in their own right, resold to run other people’s coding agents on the victim’s bill.
