OpenAI launches ChatGPT Health, linking medical records and wellness apps

LaunchHealthUSConfirmed

OpenAI introduced ChatGPT Health, a separate space in ChatGPT where users can connect US medical records via b.well and apps such as Apple Health, with conversations encrypted, kept apart from other chats and excluded from training. OpenAI said more than 230 million people a week ask ChatGPT health questions; after a waitlist phase it opened to US adults on web and iOS on 23 July 2026, excluding the EEA, Switzerland and the UK.

Why it matters

A mass-market chatbot now ingests patient records while positioning itself outside medical-device rules, testing where consumer health information ends and regulated advice begins.
